With seven family members currently working on the property, the family traditions continue, and so does their commitment of local involvement, giving back and maintaining the rural lifestyle. Nine years later, in 1974, a winery was started, and to this day Mill Creek completes the entire process of growing grapes through producing wine. The winery is converted from an original farm structure and their tasting room modeled after one of the many Wood Mills popular in the area. It’s easy to recognize with the attached water wheel and adjacent mill pond. The views also go on and on, all the way to the southern end of the Dry Creek Valley to the distant town of Healdsburg, and the mountain ranges on the eastern side of Napa Valley. Mill Creek Merlot 2002Our find, from their home to yoursWinemaker Jeremy Kreck’s basic philosophy is to let the fruit shine in Mill Creek’s wines. The fruit here is both influenced by the cool nights and mornings of the Russian River Valley, yet its allowed to fully mature with the warmer climate of the Dry Creek Valley.
