Louis Bernard Côtes du Luberon 2006
Rhône Valley, France
The Côtes du Rhône is a widespread winegrowing area, encompassing many vineyards throughout the southern Rhône Valley of France. The Côtes du Luberon is a sub-region, tucked away in the southeast corner. Here, the ancient Romans planted grapevines and winegrowing remained a tradition through the Middle Ages and the Renaissance into today.
Many different grape varieties are grown here and then blended together, with Syrah and Grenache dominating. The Louis Bernard adds a touch of Carignane to those two, making for a medium-bodied wine with a light meaty character, wrapped in fruity notes of raspberry and cherry and finished with a light, peppery spice. Its tannins are firm and dry.

The Louis Bernard Côtes du Luberon goes well with grilled or braised meats like short ribs or London broil. It also works well with hearty pastas and stews.
