Marmesa Chardonnay 2005

Chardonnay is changing its face. More and more producers are showing another side of Chardonnay - forgoing oak-aging so that the crisp, fruit-driven character of the grape can shine through on its own. It takes the right, cooler-climate vineyards, though; the Edna Valley may be Californian, but it’s proximity to the cool, foggy Pacific Ocean makes it work for the Hollister Peak vineyard.
The Marmesa Chardonnay shows lots of banana, melon and mango notes, leavened by a bready touch from aging the wine on its lees. It’s medium-bodied, with a soft, spicy finish.

this was great as a wine before dinner...we all enjoyed it and at this price I will order some more
Try the Marmesa Chardonnay with light pork dishes or shellfish. It also goes well with many vegetarian pastas.
