Mataverde Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Mendoza, Argentina
It should come as no surprise that Cabernet Sauvignon grows well in Argentina alongside the country’s signature grape, Malbec; after all, both originate in that classic French wine region of Bordeaux. While Argentine Malbec tends to sport a spicy side, the country’s Cabernets favor fruity aromas; the Mataverde shows juicy aromas of black plum, blackberry and raspberry, with some earthy touches. It’s full-bodied, with moderate tannins that balance well with the fruit.

Said to fall in the "bold" tasting category. I found it just on the edge of too strong-tasting, but the overall experience was good.

The Mataverde Cabernet Sauvignon goes well with roasted meats like London broil or a prime rib; with its juicy character, it also pairs nicely with moderately spiced Mexican dishes like steak fajitas.
