1150 Chardonnay 2007
Mendoza, Argentina
Snow and wine would seem to have little to say to each other, but in Mendoza, Argentina’s prime winemaking region, the former feeds the latter. Each spring and summer, the snow at the top of the Andes melts a bit, creating rivulets and streams that give the grapevines the modest amounts of water they require. Modest amounts- because excess irrigation makes for dilute wines.
However, Tupungato, the sub-region of Mendoza where these grapes are grown, is known for its Chardonnays, and the 1150 Chardonnay has the concentrated flavors to prove it. Medium-bodied, with lemon, mango, vanilla and light spice aromas, it’s an elegant wine with a crisp finish. A limited release of only 140 cases.

Try the 1150 Chardonnay with lighter chicken dishes or fish like grouper or snapper. It also goes well with pastas with a cream-based sauce.
