1150 Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
Mendoza, Argentina
If it weren’t for the elevation, Mendoza, Argentina, would be way too hot for growing good winegrapes. High in the foothills of the Andes, the mountain air is a bit cooler, so the sugars in the grape ripen slowly and evenly. On the other hand, the vineyards still receive intense sunlight, which helps develop the flavors in the grapes.
“1150” is the elevation in meters above sea-level of Ikal’s vineyards; that altitude comes through in their Cabernet as rich blackberry and black plum aromas, with a touch of vanilla from well-balanced oak aging. It’s full-bodied, with good length and firm tannins. Enjoy this limited release of only 200 cases.

The 1150 Malbec goes well with roast lamb, prime rib, or braised short ribs; it also suits mature cheeses like Gouda or Cheddar.
