Lapis Luna Petit Verdot 2005
San Luis Obispo, California
Petit Verdot: always the bridesmaid, never the bride. The grape has a long history and has played a part in some of the world’s best Bordeaux blends, but since it rarely appears on its own, it’s never gotten the name recognition of its compatriots Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot. It’s no wilting flower! The “petit” refers to the size of the grapes, not the character of the wine. In fact, those small grapes make for lots of intensity and power in the bottle.
In the Lapis Luna you get dark fruit notes of black raspberry, blueberry and cassis in a full-bodied and yes, powerful package, wrapping with firm tannins and a long finish.

too tart for my taste
I like the very full body.. drink with a heavy meal and still has a nice finish. The aroma is a light fruit
Serve the Lapis Luna Petit Verdot 2005 with grilled meats like a good steak or lamb chops; it also pairs nicely with rich cheeses like a triple cream.
