Broken Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon 1999
Diamond Mountain District, CA
Stored for 10 years in the perfect aging conditions, your aged cab will need some time to breathe before enjoying.
Winegrowers appreciate that different parts of Napa Valley have their own unique character and style. The Diamond Mountain District is high up in the northeastern corner, and its rocky slopes provide excellent drainage and sun exposure, yielding powerful, intense wines.
The qualities of this region come through in the Broken Barrel Cabernet; full-bodied and muscular, it shows smooth notes of blackberry, raspberry, and cassis, plus spicy-sweet touches of pipe tobacco. It's firm and dry, with great length. An excellent value, and it's usually double or more in price for a comparable wine.
Reminder: an Aged wine has been locked away in a bottle and away from the air, so a little breathing time is needed. Open it an hour before drinking, decant (there will be some sediment) or let it breathe a bit in the glass. This will let it open up and really show what its made of. A special treat.

Serve the Broken Barrel Cabernet with lamb or steaks; it also accompanies hearty pastas quite well.
