Zapadorado Verdejo 2007
Rueda, Spain
Fantastic-but-neglected Spanish red wine regions are being rediscovered all the time; now the white wines are getting in on the act, too. Rueda lies on the southern banks of the Duero River which runs through Portugal’s fabled Port vineyards on one side, to Spain’s red wine blockbuster area, Ribera del Duero, on the other. In addition to its geographical pedigree, Rueda also has its own, indigenous grape, Verdejo, which gives Sauvignon Blanc a run for its money when it comes to crispness, aroma, and refreshment.
The light-bodied Zapadorado has all of those in abundance, with delicious notes of peach, pineapple, and grapefruit, along with floral and light anise touches.

The Zapadorado Verdejo is a wonderful aperitif wine, but also works well with salads, light seafood like shrimp or shellfish or artichokes. Also pairs well with goat cheese.
