Poetess Shiraz 2007
Lodi, California
Shiraz and Syrah: same grape, different name. The former is the preferred term in Australia, while the French use the latter. However, the different names have come to represent a stylistic choice, so when you see Shiraz, whether it’s from Australia, South America, or as in this case, California, you can count on getting a full-bodied red with lush dark fruit. In the Poetess that means blackberry, blueberry and a light touch of smoke, with firm but smooth tannins.

The Poetess Shiraz goes well with roasted meats like London broil, rack of lamb or pot roast. It also works well with rich cheeses such as a triple cream.
