Laura Zahtila is one of a handful of women winery owners. After making her way in the high-tech industry, her long-time love for wine brought her to Napa Valley, where she set up shop among the country's most famous vineyards. She has focused on Napa's most famous grapes - Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Her 2006 Chardonnay shows the ripeness that characterizes Napa's sunny climate without becoming too rich or overbearing. It is full-bodied and firm, and shows a good mix of tart fruits like pear and lemon alongside more tropical touches. It finishes long and smooth.
