Argos Albariño 2007
Rias Baixas, Spain
The northwest corner of Spain, just above Portugal, is green country, with granite hills and small fjords, called "rias baixas" ("low inlets") in Gallego, a local language. It's also home to Spain’s most distinctive white wine grape, Albariño. It makes a deliciously crisp wine and is remarkable for its ability to combine fruity and minerally notes. The Argos displays that talent, with pear, apricot and lemon aromas living cheek-by-jowl with refreshing mineral and brioche touches. It’s medium-bodied and crisp, with a clean, smooth finish.

Light, crisp, evervescent. Light to medium body. Very drinkable, it just didn't knock my socks off.
Rias Baixas is also home to some of Spain’s best seafood, so it’s no wonder that the Argos makes a great match with scallops, mussels and other “fruits of the sea.” Its crisp character also makes it a good match with salads.
