The style associated with California Chardonnay often gets pushed to extremes of really high alcohol and lots of oak. However, there are other ways to handle the grape. Huxley Vineyards, for example, shows just the right balance, making a medium-bodied wine with toasty, nutty notes and lots of good fruit as well. It's still smooth and round, but finishes crisp and refreshing.

The balanced Huxley Vineyards Chardonnay is a great party wine, satisfying “big Chard” drinkers as well as those who prefer lighter wines. It’s versatile with food, but shines with chicken and white fish like grouper or Chilean sea bass.
