Osprey Glen Cabernet Franc 2005

Cabernet Franc is the forgotten grape of Bordeaux, but it is an important part of the traditional red blend, along with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon have gone on to create identities of their own in California and elsewhere, but Cab Franc remains a bit mysterious to many. However, Cab Franc often embodies some of the best qualities of both: the spice and focus of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot's less intense, smooth mouthfeel and supple tannins. In the Osprey Glen that means a medium-bodied, easy drinking red, with raspberry, cherry and plum notes complemented by a bit of spice and wild herbs.

Serve with meats or poultry - duck, chicken, and pork will all balance well with this wine. It also suits cream-based pasta sauces and richer vegetarian dishes.
