Mill Creek Merlot 2002
Dry Creek Valley, California
Merlot has taken some hits in the past few years, but to good effect. While before it was grown in many places that were too warm, making for a flabby, soft wine, today the vineyards that have survived the "Sideways effect" deserve real attention. The Mill Creek Merlot has classic touches of plum, blackberry and milk chocolate. It's full-bodied and smooth, with light tannins and a note of spice to the finish.
